View to the island and the Temple Sybille

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, Paris, France

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is one of my favorite places to visit in Paris. When in Paris do as the Parisians do, at least from time to time. The park is not too popular among the tourist crowd – this is one of the reasons why you should visit.

Opened in 1867, “le parc” has outstanding landscape design with an artificial lake, a grotto, waterfalls and bridges. The park is located on a hill with great views to the city. There are 3 restaurants and 5 areas with WiFi.

Here are some photos I took in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.

One of the bridges connecting the island with the rest of the park. Guess who designed it? (don’t google it). The answer is at the bottom of this post*. May-7-2015

The “petite cascade”, an artificial waterfall at Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, Paris, France. Don’t try to “get Vine”, it was discontinued in 2016. Old uploads are still looping. May-28-2015

The park is great for running, walking and other exercise. There are approximately 8 kilometers of roads and paths where you can run. Here’s a selfie after 5km run in the Parc Des Buttes-Chaumont. April-22-2015

*The bridge mentioned above was designed by Gustave Eiffel, known for the Eiffel Tower. He also designed the iron skeleton of the Statue of Liberty.
